My family loved to travel and Dad always had a camera on him. So it seemed a natural fit when I went to work for a photo lab. I learned about color balance, contrast, cropping, even won a few awards with my photos. After quitting my job as a lab tech to become a writing instructor, I dreamed of having my own lab at home to process negatives and prints. Thankfully, now all the stuff it used to take several cameras and rooms full of equipment to produce can be accomplished with a pocket-sized digital camera, a PC and an inexpensive color printer.
